THE TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS ORDINANCE

Fort Hall Indian Reservation

TERO's main function

 

  • Administration of the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance which provides for Indian Preference in employment, contracting and subcontracting conducted on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation, located in Southeast Idaho.

 

TERO Commission/Staff are committed to continual service involving:

 

  • Providing information on Indian Preference and Equal Employment laws;
  • Providing job search, application assistance, interviewing and job retention information.
  • Negotiating Indian Preference Agreements with employers operating on or near the Fort Hall Indian Reservation;
  • Maintaining employment referral services to employers both on or near the Reservation;
  • Investigating and completing on-site inspections of employers, contractors, or subcontractors to insure compliance with the TERO Ordinance and Tribes' Indian Preference Policy;
  • Receiving and investigating potential employment discrimination complaint charges;
  • Drafting charges of alleged violations of Title VII, filing with EEOC and attempting to conciliate complaints; Assisting Indians in capitalizing on employment opportunities and in developing their own businesses.

Job Seeker Orientations are held the first, second and third Thursday of every month at 8:00 a.m. at the TERO Office.

 

Job seekers can file a TERO application, find out information on our Hiring Hall Procedures, seek employment using the Job Order and Referral system and register with the Department of Labor job seeker and access unemployment benefits by using the free computer.
