Winter Wood Program update for tribal membership

FORT HALL – Following a recent resolution passed by the Fort Hall Business Council, the Consumer Services Program is offering firewood as a separate service, not tied to energy assistance. When donated wood is available, it is provided at no cost and does not affect 477 Energy Assistance eligibility.

This is a one-time, special distribution for the current winter season, and the Consumer Services Program will update the Tribal membership if any changes or future directions are provided.

Eligible applicants must be enrolled Shoshone-Bannock tribal members who reside on the Fort Hall Reservation and have a safe, working wood stove. A Winter Wood Program Form is required and is available at the Consumer Services front office at the Old Casino. This application is for firewood only. Requests for other types of energy assistance, or for Tribal members living off the reservation, require completion of an FY26 477 Application.

Firewood delivery is labor-intensive and deliveries will take time. Each household will receive one large trailer or two smaller trailers of firewood.

This effort is supported through collaboration with the ARM Program and Cedar House, who are providing additional labor to the Wood Crew.
