The mission of the Tribal Health and Human Services Department is the improve the health, well-being, and quality of life of our Native American community by empowering people to promote and model positive attitudes and behaviors through lifelong commitment of healing and personal wellness. The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes are the only Indian nation in the U.S. that is jointly accredited through AAAHC with their local Indian Health Service Unit.

There are several programs that provides nursing services to the Fort Hall community to educate residents on healthy living practices, promoting prevention over treatment. Clinical Services include Women’s health, well-child checks, immunizations, prenatal care, family planning, health screening for sexually transmitted infections, cancer, depression risk, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome assessment, physical exams, DOT exams, sports examinations, acute care and chronic care management.

CHRs provide outreach services to the Tribal community, by connecting with individual patients. The CHRs are trained to utilize Tribal traditional concepts to improve the health and safety of the community. Eligibility for direct services also determines if a patient can receive CHR services. The CHR program also oversees the health educators who provide community outreach and education, including promotion of health and exercise, car seat safety, and other services.

CHRs provide essential outreach services to the Tribal community by connecting directly with patients and families. They provide compassionate support to strengthen wellness and promote safe access to healthcare. CHRs transport eligible patients to and from dialysis on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and provide non dialysis medical transport on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They also pick up and deliver non narcotic medications. In addition to transportation and medication delivery, CHRs help patients navigate the healthcare system, provide referrals for medical services, and engage in community outreach that builds trust and connection. CHRs serve as a vital bridge between the community and healthcare providers, ensuring patients receive the guidance, support, and resources needed to improve their overall wellbeing.

The Counseling and Family Services (CFS) Program seeks to deliver quality Mental Health and Medical Social Work services to the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and all eligible recipients. These services will integrate traditional Native American beliefs and practices with Western attitudes and approaches, and will be delivered in a culturally competent, professional, confidential atmosphere.

The mission of the Diabetes Project is to proactively support high quality, patient-centered, comprehensive diabetes prevention and surveillance utilizing best practice coordinated with medical providers and community services. The goal of the Diabetes Project is to improve the health of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribal community through planning, implementing, and evaluating health status of individuals and community groups diagnosed with or at risk for diabetes. The program accomplishes this goal by working with individuals, families, and groups functioning as a multi-disciplinary team in collaboration with other THHS and IHS programs to meet patient-specific needs.

The Fort Hall Recreation Program hosts year-long activities, tournaments and sporting events designed to promote physical fitness and wellness in the Fort Hall Community. Timbee Hall is the main facility for the Recreation Program, and provides for a variety of services, including: Computer room access and boys’ & girls’ clubs are offered, as well as youth programs during the summer. Daily access to a variety of exercise equipment and facilities are also available. Timbee Hall is also used for community events, such as powwows and dances.

The Four Directions Treatment Center is a tribally operated alcohol/drug treatment program located on the Shoshone-Bannock Indian reservation in Fort Hall, Idaho. The Treatment Center provides the quality treatment services for substance abuse, using culturally-based and holistic treatment. The on-site services provided are the adult outpatient, adult intensive outpatient treatment and adolescent outpatient treatment. The on-site services offered are the adult primary residential treatment, adult outpatient, adult intensive outpatient and adolescent outpatient.

The Health Education Program provides primary and secondary health promotion/disease prevention education to individuals, families, and community members. Health Education helps increase awareness, knowledge, and desire to modify and improve emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health. We also assist in the the prevention of injuries, disease, and premature death by adopting and maintaining healthy behaviors.

The Purchased and Referred Care (PRC) program provides financial assistance to PRC eligible patients for the payment of authorized medical expenses. The PRC program is designed to be the last resort and is not an entitlement program.

The Social Services Program is responsible to protect the general welfare of the children and families in the local community. It promotes the safety and well-being of all children, while addressing the unique needs of each child. Services include Child Protection, Foster Care and more. Located on Navajo Drive in Building 70.

The Victims Assistance Program offers 24-hour crisis intervention, shelter, community advocate, advocacy at court, education, support groups and individual counseling. It is designed to work in conjunction with local law enforcement.The advocates provide immediate support and information for victims at the secured scene of a domestic dispute. The advocate will ensure that the primary and any secondary victims have the opportunity to make safe choices
