FHBC selects top Native American Department entries for 2026 EISF Special Awards

BLACKFOOT – On September 9, 2026, the Fort Hall Business Council (FHBC) picked their selections for this year’s Special Awards, recognizing exceptional entries submitted to the Native American Department at the Eastern Idaho State Fair.

FHBC Chairwoman Donna Thompson, Sergeant at Arms Russell Haskett, and Council member Michael Tindore dedicated time to reviewing hundreds of submissions, carefully choosing the pieces that stood out to them.

Special Award recipients are:

  • Chairwoman’s Choice Award: Traditional Dann’s Traditionally Dressed Native American Doll with Baby Doll in Cradleboard.
  • Councilman Haskett’s Choice Award: Layla Buckskin’s fully beaded Traditional Dress and Hat.
  • Councilman Tindore’s Choice Award: Brenda Racehorse’s Fully Beaded Vest.
  • Chairwoman Thompson expressed her admiration for the artists’ efforts.

“The artistry our people share is remarkable. Every entry carries its own story, creativity, and dedication, which makes choosing just a few incredibly difficult. We’re proud to uplift this talent and continue celebrating Shoshone-Bannock craftsmanship at the fair,” said Thompson.

Award recipients received ribbons and cash prizes.

The FHBC extends their heartfelt appreciation to all artists who contributed their work to this year’s fair. Additional thanks go to the Native American Department staff for their continued support and for welcoming fair visitors while dressed in their beautiful traditional regalia.
