Fort Hall Business Council offers free Tribal ID cards to enrolled members for six months

FORT HALL – The Fort Hall Business Council acknowledges the concerns of Shoshone-Bannock Tribal members regarding the new Administration’s Executive Orders that may affect their identification as an original people of the Americas.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Council passed a resolution on February 4, 2025 directing the Tribal Enrollment Department to renew or replace lost Tribal identification (ID) cards at no cost to the membership for a period of six months, through August 4, 2025.

Those who are eligible, but not yet enrolled as members of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, may be issued a no-cost Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) document. Those seeking a CIB must provide their birth certificate that includes the names of their parents who are/were enrolled Shoshone-Bannock (living or deceased).

Tribal members are encouraged to carry a copy of their Tribal and state ID cards. In addition, keep a picture of your IDs on your phones. The ID cards should be presented to law enforcement as proof of citizenship if members are stopped or questioned.

The Tribal Enrollment office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Tribal Business Center. The office stops printing Tribal ID’s at 4:30 p.m. The Enrollment office number is 208-681-9654.
