Fish & Wildlife Department to Host Public Meeting for the Spring Creek Enhancement Project at Cable Bridge Boat Ramp

Fort Hall, Idaho – The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes Fish & Wildlife Department is hosting a public meeting on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel in the Chiefs Event Center for the Spring Creek Enhancement Project at the Cable Bridge boat ramp.

The half mile proposed project will reverse decades of instream and riparian habitat erosion caused in part by the highly variable regulation of the nearby American Falls Reservoir. The proposed design incorporates many natural features that will stabilize and enhance the stream for fish, birds, and wildlife. A new boat ramp and enhanced stream banks will improve safety and access to both the enhanced project reach as well as the American Falls Reservoir.

The project will be constructed using both convention construction equipment as well as hydraulic dredging to minimize the potential disruption to the existing site, stream, and habitats. Construction is scheduled to commence in the fall of 2023 and will be completed in the spring and summer of 2024.

Tribal members and the general public are invited to attend the informal meeting to learn more about the project and provide comments. An overview of the proposed design in addition to updates of similar, recently constructed stream enhancement projects constructed on the Bottoms will be presented.

Light refreshments will be provided. For more information please contact Hunter Osborne 208-221-4872hosborne@sbtribes.com; Zachary Wadsworth zwadsworth@sbtribes.com.
