Shoshone-Bannock Tribes celebrate groundbreaking for new Fort Hall Recreation Center
FORT HALL – The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and the Fort Hall Business Council invite community members to join the official groundbreaking of the new Fort Hall Recreation Center on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 10 a.m.
The ceremony will take place at the future site of the new Recreation Center near Ross Fork Road and Mission Road, with parking available at the Fort Hall Skatepark.
Construction on the 67,000 square-foot Recreation Center is expected to begin 2027, with completion anticipated in early 2028.
This long-anticipated project represents a major investment in the health and future of the Fort Hall community. The new Recreation Center will provide a dedicated space for youth activities, community gatherings, and recreation.
The project also reflects how revenues generated through successful gaming operations at the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel are being reinvested into initiatives that directly benefit Tribal members and strengthen the community as identified by tribal leadership.
“This groundbreaking marks a significant milestone in our commitment to building a stronger, healthier community,” said Chairwoman Donna Thompson. “The new Recreation Center will serve as a hub for our youth, elders, and families to gather, grow, and thrive for generations to come.”
Community members, families, and supporters are encouraged to attend this special event, which will include a blessing and groundbreaking ceremony as the community gathers to celebrate this important step forward.
