The Mission of the Fort Hall Police Department is to serve the Fort Hall community by protecting life, safety, and property. The Fort Hall Police Department strives to promote and maintain order by preventing crime, enforcing the laws, and building a cooperative relationship with the community.

Law Enforcement.

Public Law.

The Fort Hall Police Department operates under public Law 93-638 for Law Enforcement Services and serves the community of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation, Idaho. The Department patrols the Reservation’s 544,000 acres of land encompassing four counties (Caribou, Power, Bannock, and Bingham). The Reservation is comprised of approximately 5,900 enrolled Tribal members. The total services population the Fort Hall Police Department serves is approximately 8,700 people to include Indian and Non-Indian residents. Patrol officers enforce Tribal and federal laws on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation.

Child Care

Justice Center.

The The Fort Hall Police Department has been located in the Shoshone-Bannock Tribal Justice Center since it opened in 2010. The new facility has enabled the Department to improve its services to the community through improved investigative capabilities, expanded dispatch center, in-house training rooms, spacious record keeping facilities and dedicated patrol officer workstations.

    The Fort Hall Police Department operates under a 93-638 Contract with Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) to provide law enforcement services to the Fort Hall Reservation. The contract requires the department to be in compliance with 25 C.F.R. for law enforcement, 18 USC, current BIA Law Enforcement Handbook, and Tribal Law and Order Code.
