Healthcare Self-Governance.
SSelf-Governance (SG) was created by the federal legislation several years ago which authorized federally recognized tribes and tribal organizations the choice of taking either all, or a portion, of existing IHS funding to manage under the tribe’s own direction. The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes Tribal Health and Human Services (THHS) Department was awarded a Self-Governance Cooperative Agreement grant to investigate whether Shoshone-Bannock Tribes have the capability to manage any or all of the current Fort Hall Service Unit (FHSU) programs under a SG Title V Compact (P.L. 93-638 Indian Self-Determination). With a portion of this grant, the Tribes hired an independent consulting group with experience in this area to report his findings to the Tribes. That Self-Governance Feasibility Report can be found on this website for your review along with a comment/suggestions section.
